HSE classes are now offered  in a hybrid (hyflex) model: in-person and/or online classes. Students can choose to attend the same class in-person or online.

Preparing To Get Your High School Equivalency (HSE) Certificate

If you are ready to make the commitment to finish your high school education through the High School Equivalency, we are ready for you. We will help you prepare through classes, personalized instruction and advising.

Our experienced, professional teachers are friendly and knowledgeable.

Has it been a while since you’ve been in school? That’s OK. We will help you start where you left off.

How long will this take?

We work in eight-week sessions. However, this does not mean you will be done in eight weeks. It all depends on your skill level, attendance and most of all on your commitment. Some students complete the program in weeks, others may take years. Don’t worry – we will be with you every step of the way.

Classes are available in English or Spanish.

If you are 16 or 17, you must submit your Underage Permission Form signed by the Superintendent of Schools from your last school of attendance before you can participate in our program. Please submit complete Underage Permission Forms to carla.passosmorgan@sfcc.edu

These forms are also available at the SFCC Testing Center or the Adult Ed front desk. Homeschooled students must also complete an Underage Permission Form.

How do I get started?

Orientation for new students is offered every eight weeks during the semester.

What can I expect?

In this program, you will enroll in classes that prepare you for the HSE exams – the HiSet or GED state-approved tests.

The Adult Education Department also prepares you for college and careers.
