SFCC Mask Requirement to Continue for Now

Dear Students and Colleagues,

N.M. Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham announced on Feb. 17 that she has lifted the indoor mask mandate for some locations. While this is good news for our communities and businesses, at this time, I do not plan to move away from SFCC’s current health and safety practices: The mask requirement remains in place for now.

After I consult with College leadership, the New Mexico Higher Education Department, and the SFCC Governing Board, I will determine the safest, most appropriate path forward.

The health and safety of students, faculty, staff, and our community are the priority. Along with masks, SFCC’s vaccine requirement is in effect. Everyone who comes to Main Campus, including the William C. Witter Fitness Education Center, Kids Campus, or the Santa Fe Higher Education Center should be fully vaccinated and, if appropriate, should have received a booster. You are doing a good job – the Governor cited high vaccination rates as a large reason for the current easing of the indoor mask mandate.

I will continue to communicate adjustments to our covid practices with you as quickly as I am able. Thank you for your patience and support as we respond promptly to the changing pandemic environment and determine the right approach for our community. I join you in looking forward to a time when this situation is behind us.

Sincerely,

Becky Rowley, Ph.D.
President
