What: Santa Fe Literary Review 2019 Edition Reading & Reception
Santa Fe Community College will host a free reading and reception to launch the 2019 edition of the Santa Fe Literary Review, SFCC’s in-print annual magazine of arts and letters. The theme is “Raices: Down to the Roots.” Featuring work by local and international writers and artists alike, the SFLR honors the unique ideas, unconventional approaches, and diverse voices of our city, our state, our nation and our world. Contributing writers will read their work. Contributing artists and authors will sign copies of the Santa Fe Literary Review. The reception will feature a gallery exhibition. The event is free and refreshments will be served. Venue is wheelchair accessible; American Sign Language interpreters will be provided.
Of note: The new SFLR includes a story short story by award-winning and best-selling author Tommy Orange, recipient of the 2019 PEN/Hemingway Award for his debut novel, There, There.

Who: The public is welcome to attend.

When: Thursday, October 17, 5-7 p.m. Reception begins at 5 p.m. Readings begin at 5:30 p.m.

Entries:
Deadline November 1. SFLR invites mailed submissions of creative nonfiction, fiction, dramatic writing/screenplay (limited to 10 pages) and poetry. No more than 2,000 words of poetry and/or prose, please. Shorter submissions are encouraged. On the outer envelope, please indicate which editor you are submitting to – Creative Nonfiction, Fiction, Dramatic Writing/Screenplay Editor or Poetry Editor. The Spaces Between: Exploring Freedom, Distance Movement and Time is the 2019-2020 theme. For complete submission guidelines visit https://www.sfcc.edu/call-for-submissions/.

Mail to: SFLR, 6401 Richards Ave, Santa Fe, New Mexico 87508. Please mail submissions in a 9” x 12” envelope and include a self-addressed, stamped envelope for the reply. Additionally, no email submissions can be accepted.

SFLR also invites emailed submissions of visual art – graphic novel excerpts, photographs,
visual photography, digital media and photographs of produced art from any media.
Please email high-resolution files in .jpg or .tif formats, at 300 dpi, along with a short
cover letter, to sflrartsubmissions@gmail.com. Please submit works in black and white
