The Katie Besser Awards recognize exemplary student writers and artists at SFCC. Winners, runners-up, and honorable mentions will be published in Accolades and will be invited to read and share their art at the annual celebration, which takes place in April or May each year. Winners and runners-up in each category will also be considered for the SFCC Foundation Richard Bradford Memorial Creative Writing Scholarship.

Poetry, Fiction, Creative Nonfiction, Academic Essay, and Art. Submissions can be in English and/or Spanish in all categories

ENTRY GUIDELINES
Email your entry to Genevieve Betts at genevieve.betts@sfcc.edu
Submit up to six WRITING ENTRIES as Word or PDF attachments. Submit up to six ART entries as PNGs or JPEGS.
Please remove any identifying information from the entry itself.
Include an email message with your name, the title and category of your entry, and your email address and phone number.
Receipt of entries will be acknowledged by email. We’ll email the results in the spring.
Acerca de la Serie de Premios Katie Besser (en español)
Los Premios Katie Besser reconocen a escritores y artistas estudiantiles ejemplares en SFCC. Los ganadores, finalistas y menciones honoríficas serán publicados en Accolades y serán invitados a leer y compartir su arte en la celebración anual, que tiene lugar en abril o mayo cada año. Los ganadores y finalistas de cada categoría también serán considerados para la Beca de Escritura Creativa Memorial Richard Bradford de la Fundación SFCC.
