New Bookstore Information

SFCC’s on-campus bookstore reopened on Monday, July 25, 2022, under the operation of Barnes & Noble College.

The on-campus bookstore offers textbooks, course materials, notebooks, pens, and other office and school supplies – as well as snacks and drinks!

On August 22, 2022 the bookstore will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. M-Th & 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fridays. The abbreviated hours of operation are temporary until staffing shortages improve. If you know anyone who might like to work at the new bookstore, please tell them to enquire at ,the on-campus bookstore.

Near the end of each term, students will have an opportunity to sell books back and return rental books at the bookstore or through mail.

Students can begin ordering books at the new bookstore website http://sfcc.bncollege.com and select free on-campus pick-up.

Students can also select several shipping methods. Additionally, students can go directly to the on-campus store to buy books off the shelf at the new on campus store.

Students and faculty can call 505-428-1218 or email SM8475@bncollege.com to see if a book is in stock or with any other bookstore-related questions. BNC will continuously be receiving deliveries and expects to have all books available in the store by the start of classes. Students can order books either as a “guest” or they can “sign up/create account” on the bookstore website. The benefit to creating an account is that the order history will be saved.

For questions or additional assistance please email SM8475@bncollege.com

Using Financial Aid for Barnes & Noble College Bookstore Purchases

Financial Aid purchases are available beginning on August 8, 2022.

Students receiving Financial Aid should wait until their aid is available before purchasing books. However, if students purchase books out of pocket and later become eligible for aid, they can be reimbursed through disbursement, provided their aid is authorized, and the award is enough to cover the purchase. Financial aid accounts are open through September 7, 2022. More financial aid information is available at the SFCC Financial Aid Office

Faculty Information

New Book Adoption Portal
Barnes & Noble College will be working with academic leadership and faculty on a new course material adoption process for the Spring term 2023. The course material adoption process will use the Barnes & Noble “Adoptions & Insights” portal (AIP). We are optimistic that the new portal will simplify the adoption process. AIP will only be available to the academic side of the college—students will not use AIP.

Adoption Deadlines
With our new relationship with Barnes and Noble College, we are contractually required to adhere to federally mandated public release of book lists to students. The federal requirement is that booklists must be available to students thirty days (30) prior to registration. Barnes and Noble College will need fifteen days (15) to identify book availability. This means SFCC will need to have a complete schedule of courses and course material adoptions delivered to Barnes & Noble College at a minimum of 45 days prior to registration of each semester. These dates are as follow:

Fall Semester 2022 – SFCC was transitioning bookstore to Barnes and Noble College bookstore, so this semester is omitted, but if a course currently has an outstanding adoption it needs to be submitted immediately.
Spring Semester 2023—Course material adoptions due to BNC, September 23, 2022
Summer Semester 2023—Course material adoptions due to BNC, February 25, 2023
Fall Semester 2023—Course material adoptions due to BNC, March 3, 2023
