“One of the big things that was reinforced for me—because I already knew this through personal tragedies as I went through school—was how grounding education can be, and how reassuring education can be in uncertain times. For a lot of my students, education kept them engaged and helped everything not fall apart. I think their feet were kept on the ground, especially with things like stay at home orders, where we’re not allowed to go outside and socialize. I noticed in the online discussions, a lot of students were reaching out and comforting each other and reminding each other of certain things. It’s amazing how people can come together through tragedy.”
