SFCC Snapshot: Shirlee Cole

“It’s definitely been a rollercoaster of a year and it’s been a special and unforgettable first year of teaching. I’d teach live online with my students at E.J. Martinez school Monday morning, then I was in “Theories of Teaching and Learning” with sj miller’s class Monday nights from 5:30 to 8:30, so it was a long day. But we really came to value the Monday night Zoom class because it just gave us a feeling of normalcy. As a student, I’m an in-classroom learner. I do not really learn well online. As an adult learner, I had to push myself through this because I prefer to be in front of the teacher with a textbook and now I’m online with online articles. For me, it was trying to adjust and become a good online learner. I did, and sj was very supportive. I think that guidance along with knowing that my other classmates were dealing with it, too, really helped.” ~ Shirlee Cole, student, Alternative Teacher Licensure Program
