Santa Fe Community College Summer and Fall Registration Opens

Registration for the summer semester begins Tuesday, April 17. Fall semester registration begins Tuesday, April 24.

One of the new certificates offered this fall is Algae Cultivation. This certificate provides students with the skills required to work in the algae cultivation (algaculture) industry or create their own algaculture business. Students will learn the controlled environment requirements for successful cultivation of various algae species. Upon completing the certificate program, students can go on to earn an Associate Degree in Controlled Environment Agriculture.

The other new offering is a Certificate in Social Media, in which. Students gain have the technical skills for entry-level employment in the field of social media. The curriculum is designed for students who are interested in working in collaborative and creative culture environments with entertainment, journalism and media professionals.

An addition to the degree programs offered in the fall is an Associated Degree in American Sign Language Interpreter Preparation. The program is designed to graduate highly qualified entry-level interpreters for community or educational settings. Also, the program prepares students to take nationally recognized interpreter exams once they are qualified to sit for these tests. Upon graduation, the student will be work-ready and can confidently approach professional credentials within a year. Certificates prepare students for entry-level work and/or supplement their skills for job advancement opportunities. Degree programs prepare students for a career and/or transfer to a bachelor’s degree program. Once registration begins, students can choose classes from the schedule of courses for both semesters online at www.sfcc.edu.
