Dr. Chris McGlone has been studying, teaching, and working in a diverse range of biology disciplines throughout his career. He studied microbial ecology and desert ecology while earning his B.S. and M.S. in Biology at New Mexico State University. Dr. McGlone continued on to Northern Arizona University where he earned his Ph.D. His doctoral research focused on the development of native and non-native plant communities in post-fire pine forests in Arizona.
While working as a researcher at Northern Arizona University, Dr. McGlone earned his certification as a Wilderness First Responder and has been involved in wilderness medicine ever since. Dr. McGlone has taught courses in human anatomy & physiology, pathophysiology, ecology, evolution, forestry, and microbiology. He has taught at Northern Arizona University, Coconino Community College, Utah State University, and the Southwest Indian Polytechnic Institute. Prior to coming to Santa Fe Community College in 2023, Dr. McGlone taught for 10 years at Central New Mexico Community College in Albuquerque.
