We are excited to welcome Dr. Marvel Harrison back to SFCC for another small group training on the nationally renowned, evidence-based suicide intervention program, QPR.
Suicide is one of the top ten leading causes of death in New Mexico, which has a higher rate by over 50% than the US national average. Rural areas suffer more due to lack of opportunities, isolation, barriers to mental health treatment, where loss of relationships, social connections, work, and finances, present greater challenges in the absence of infrastructure.
QPR training offers a platform for participants to learn to have the difficult, yet healthy conversation and support in suicide prevention and intervention.
