Accounting Program - School of Business and Education
About the Program
If the world of finance beckons, then a career in accounting could add up to your success. A Santa Fe Community College AA degree in Accounting will prepare the graduate for a bachelor's degree program and is a good foundation for a career in almost any field.
In SFCC’s Accounting Program, you’ll study accounting (financial, managerial and intermediate), computerized accounting (QuickBooks) as well as principles of finance, business statistical analysis, macro and micro economics, business ethics, business law and principles of managing. The courses in the degree program are patterned after the lower-division courses at universities so you'll get the required general education courses plus core courses in business administration and accounting. A New Mexico Business Consortium articulation agreement assures transferability of the core business and accounting courses to two and four year institutions of higher learning in New Mexico. Students earning an AA degree in Accounting at Santa Fe Community College automatically earn an AA degree in Business Administration.
The Accounting Specialist Certificate prepares the student for entry into the accounting/bookkeeping field; for upgrading their accounting skills for job promotion; or upgrading their credentials through preparation for the National Bookkeeper Certification exam. The certificate can be completed in one year. The courses in the certificate can be applied towards the AA degree in Accounting.
