Sign Up for Renewal and Wholeness Retreat

Give yourself the gift of slowing down and looking within in pursuit of what brings life into our lives and work. In this two-weekend retreat, you are invited to explore issues of vocation, identity and integrity through self-reflection, soulful poetry, deep listening, respectful inquiry, silent walks outdoors and more. Fridays from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., July 28 and 29 and August 4 and 5. Open to all SFCC staff and faculty and facilitated by Jeff Hood. SFCC Leadership Academy Accepting Applications for Class of 2018

SFCC Leadership Academy graduates complete an eight-month training to enhance communication skills, build community and develop leadership and management skills to better serve our students. Applications are available on MySFCC for the Leadership, Graduate and Supervisor classes.

Professional Development Opportunities Start this Week

Food for Life: Lose weight and get healthy in a series of nine, weekly educational cooking classes on a plant-based diet. Benefits include prevention of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and other chronic diseases. Taught by Amanda Hatherly, Certified Food for Life instructor. Lunch prepared, provided and eaten in the class. Tuesdays beginning June 13 and going through July 25, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Preregistration is necessary. Funded by the SFCC Foundation.

Fun-day Mondays: Join colleagues in a drop-in noon hour of fun and games, laughter and learning in the courtyard. Who said life was all work and no play? Facilitated by Jeff Hood, Erica Abeyta and Ernest Kavanaugh, June 19 – July 24.

Veterans' Scholarship Recipients Named

SFCC students Wyetta Bradley and Frances Jessop have been awarded Veterans’ scholarships through a partnership among Santa Fe Community College Foundation, the City of Santa Fe Veterans Advisory Board and U.S. Bank. Congratulations!

The scholarship application for City of Santa Fe/SFCC Foundation Veterans Scholarship is available. Applications are due July 7.

Free Film Screening and Discussion

SFCC students are invited to a screening and discussion of Transvisible Bamby Salcedo’s Story, a documentary film by Dante Alencastre from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 21 at the Center for Contemporary Arts, 1050 Old Pecos Trail. $10 admission fee, free to SFCC students with ID. Janelle Johnson to Serve on Executive Council of the ACCA

Janelle Johnson, MA, LPCC, Senior Counselor has been elected to serve as President-elect on the Executive Council of the American College Counseling Association (ACCA). The Association has a membership of over 1,200 counselors nationally that includes professionals and student members who work in college settings.

Janelle will begin her term as President-elect July 1, 2017 and will represent ACCA and SFCC at the 2017 American Counseling Association (ACA) Institute for Leadership Training this summer in Washington, DC. After serving one year as President-elect, Johnson will serve a one-year term as President.

Grantsmanship Spot Available
