SFCC’s Dec. 2018 nursing graduates’ pinning ceremony

Class speakers Heather Galeano and Marlena Lewis talked to the graduates and their families about their journeys to the day they were pinned.

The graduating class and all the nurses at the ceremony stood and read the Nursing Pledge. They held a symbolic Lamp of Knowledge. The Nightingale pledge is dedicated to the founder of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale, who carried a lamp with a candle to minister to the wounded soldiers of the Crimean War.

Class speaker Marlena Lewis and her classmates who were pinned enjoyed a celebration cake after the ceremony.

On  Dec. 5 the 2018 Nursing cohort held the traditional pinning ceremony. The graduates, who received an AAS in Nursing include Andrew Boe, Loretto Garcia and Dan Harada. The BSN Nursing graduates are Abigail Beagle, Heathe Galeano, Amy King, Marlena Lewis, Scott Martin, Andrew Meyer, Matthew Moody, Ashlyn Nunley, Marcos Perez, Darlene Quintana, Saira Rio, Kelly Smith and Kaitlyn Trujillo.
