APRENDE PRE-APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM/ PROGRAMA DE PRE-APRENDIZ

APRENDE Pre-Apprenticeship Program is for people interested in becoming an early childhood assistant teacher who do not have experience in early childhood settings.  Pre-Apprentices gain experience through a 150-hour field experience and earn a Child Development Certificate (CDC) in early childhood education. Pre-Apprentices earn financial incentives for their field experience and early childhood coursework.  All course credits will transfer to continue to the associate degree in early childhood education.  If you have already earned your CDC, you are not qualified for pre-apprenticeship.  After completing the Pre-Apprenticeship Program, you will be qualified to become a teacher assistant in a high-quality early learning setting.  For additional information and to apply to APRENDE: www.sfcc.edu/aprende <http://www.sfcc.edu/aprend

APRENDE es un programa de capacitación de maestros de la primera infancia en Santa Fe Community College a través de la experiencia practica en la enseñanza para obtener certificados y titulas para una carrerea gratificante en la primera infancia.

BROADBAND NETWORKING/JOB FAIR – APRIL 24

CAREER SERVICES WORKSHOPS-SPRING 2026

Join Career and Transfer Services once a month for a workshop on a career related topic.   We will meet on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30 in Room 412.   You can also join the workshops virtually via Microsoft Teams.

CHILDCARE- MAKE SURE YOU’RE ON THE KIDS CAMPUS WAITLIST 

Are you in need of childcare?  When a spot becomes available at the Kids Campus, students get priority placement.  Kids campus wants to support student parents and hopes that those needing childcare will get on the waitlist.  Children of degree-seeking SFCC students, SFCC employees, and full-time students at the Higher Education Center are prioritized for placement to support a two-generation philosophy of education at the college.  Visit the Kids Campus website for more information.  Student receive a 10% discount on the cost of Kids Campus and NM Early Childhood Education and Care Development offers Child Care Assistance to income-eligible students. 

COLLECTIVE GLASS POP-UP OPENING APRIL 9

A diverse range of glass art comes to the Fine Arts Building this April.  Collective Glass, a pop-up exhibition featuring 30 artists, runs April 9-23.  Work on view includes functional objects, jewelry, and sculptures.  Join us at the opening reception on April 9 from 2 – 4 p.m. in the Dean’s Lobby.

FINANCIAL DEADLINE APRIL 20

Don’t leave your funding to chance!   April 20, 2026, is the final deadline for the following:

  • Direct Student Loan Processing: All applications, corrections, updates, or changes.  
  • Special Circumstances Appeals: All requests for financial aid adjustment.
  • Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Appeals:  Final date to submit appeals to regain aid eligibility.

FINANCIAL WELL-BEING AND LITERACY COURSE

Student affairs has launched a Financial Well-being and Literacy course to help our students ensure they are on a path to financial well-being and making good choices about their money and their future. Nusenda and SFCC have a co-branded Financial Wellness website with lots of useful information and tools:  https://santafecc.teachbanzai.com/wellness.  You can access the course by clicking on the “Financial Literacy” button on the Welcome section of the MySFCC homepage.

FREE DIAPERS AVAILABLE THROUGH DIAPER DEPOT AT SFCC EXCHANGE

SFCC students, faculty, staff, and community members can now receive a free monthly supply of diapers and wipes—thanks to a new partnership between the SFCC Exchange and Food Depot’s Diaper Depot.  Sizes range from newborn to size 8.  To participate, enroll at the Campus Cupboard (Room LL305) or if you already have a CC#, email joanna.johnston@sfcc.edu with your information.   Please see attached flyer. 

FREE FOOD AND SNACKS

The Campus Cupboard (Room LL305, lower level of the West Wing) offers free groceries and snacks to the SFCC community.  You can shop for groceries once a week and grab up to two snacks a day.  The Campus Cupboard is open from 8:15 am to 4:45 PM, Monday through Friday when campus is open.  The Exchange also has kitchen items, clothing, and diaper program enrollment.  No student ID is required—just a quick 5-minute enrollment.  Menstrual products are provided by Free Flow New Mexico.  Questions?  Email cupboard@sfcc.edu or call 505-428-1775.

FREE MONEY    

1) Are you currently enrolled in this semester and are experiencing some financial challenges?  Have you experienced a recent emergency and need just a little help?  Apply today through the Student Emergency Fund.  The application can be found on your MySFCC page und Resources (Emergency Assistance Fund).  Applications are reviewed frequently, and funds are directly awarded to your account. (The funds cannot cover the cost of tuition or books.)

2)  Did you know that you may be eligible for FREE GRANT MONEY?  Have you completed your Free Application for Federal Student Ais (FASFSA).  If not, it’s easy, apply today at www.fafsa.gov .  Even if you are taking a few classes, you may still be eligible.  Form more information, please contact our financial aid office at 505-428-1268.

JOSH DAVIS OLYMPIC CLINIC

Join us for an extraordinary swim clinic with the legendary two-time Olympian, Josh Davis.  This event will take place from April 10-11.  Josh will be explaining the secrets to mastering all four strokes, as well as perfecting starts, turns and streamlines.  Use the QR code to register and buy your tickets.

LEGACHE GAMES APRIL 11

Looking to compete and connect with other coders? Legache Games, a one-day coding competition, will take place April 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the SFCC Higher Education Center.  Participants will tackle challenging problems under time pressure.  Attendees should bring a personal computer.  For details and to register for the event visit Legache.com/legache-games.

The library is temporarily relocating to East Wing Open Computer Lab (Room 583) from Feb. 16 through April 6

Due to an HVAC project, services such as computer access, research support, and interlibrary loan will continue with adjusted hours.

NORTHERN NEW MEXICO HEALTHCARE CAREER FAIR – APRIL 15

The Northern New Mexico Healthcare Career Fair will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 15, 2026, at the SFCC Fitness Center.  Students interested in fields such as nursing, medical assisting, dental assisting, respiratory therapy, and other healthcare roles are encouraged to attend.  Bring copies of your resume and dress professionally to make a strong first impression.  This event will connect students with employers who are actively hiring and includes network, on-site interviews, and resume workshops.

SFCC HAS ADDED A NEW FEATURE

You can download a statement of your account at any time you would like.  The statement will include:

  • Amount owing for the term (could also include balances from other terms owing
  • Account Activity for term chosen showing Charges/Credits/Payments
  • Schedule of classes register for
  • Buttons to print or make a payment

Below are instructions on how to view the statement.

  1. Log into your student portal at http://www.my.sfcc.edu/  
  2. Click the Pay Now/1098T button
  3. Enter your SFCC email address
  4. In the Statements box you can click ON Demand Statement
  5. In the drop-down box click on the Term needed

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION AVAILABLE NOW

Pay for college with scholarships.  One simple application puts you in consideration for State institutional and Foundation private scholarships.  Scholarships are available for new and returning, part time and full-time students to help pay for college for the upcoming academic year.  Scholarships are also available for second generation colleges.  For more information and to apply go tohttps://www.sfcc.edu/offices/financial-aid/  If you have questions or need assistance, email the Financial Aid Office at finaid@sfcc.edu from your SFCC student email account.  Make sure to include your Student ID number in the email.

STATE OF NEW MEXICO INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

WIN PROJECT

The WIN project employs four Navigators who are actively working to recruit individuals who are unemployed or underemployed or are looking to skill up. Benson is currently assigned to SFCC. WIN Navigators focus is to support low-income individuals, people of color, and people recovering from substance use disorders or those who have been incarcerated to place them into training programs, and connect them with services, resources, employers, and further training to support their success.  Please visit the website with this link https://www.nnm-win.com/community-support
