ACCEPTING NOW: DENTAL PROGRAM APPLICATIONS 

SFCC’s Dental Department is accepting Certificate in Dental Assisting, Associate degree in Dental Health and Certificate in Expanded Function Dental Auxiliary (EFDA) applications for fall 2024, from now till the class is full.

Student Ambassadors do not need to be work-study eligible.  The Student Worker positions do require work-study eligibility.  Requirements for both types of positions:

-Work a max of 20 hours per week,
-We work with your class schedule,
-Must maintain a cumulative 2.5 GPA,
-Some lifting will be required.

CAMPUS CUPBOARD–INTERESTED IN HELPING OTHERS?

We are hiring THREE Students as Campus Cupboard, The Exchange and Office Ambassadors

Max 20 hours per week. Must be registered for at least 3 CR in summer and 6 CR in fall and maintain a minimum of a 2.5 GPA. Pay is $15/hour. Check out SFCC’s Career Coach, your one-stop shop for job postings, resume writing, and career exploration.  SFCC students and community members can create a free Career Coach account. From there you can upload your resume or create one using the Resume builder that can provide suggestions for how to write your resume based on your work experience. Once your resume is complete, you can quickly apply for any job posted in Career Coach.  If you don’t know what kind of job you want, you can take a career assessment that identifies your primary areas of strength and provides suggestions for different career paths to explore. If you have an idea of career paths you are interested in, you can search for specific career pathways and compare projected salaries, required education, and available SFCC academic programs.  FINANCIAL WELL-BEING AND LITERACY MINI-COURSE

FREE FOOD 

The campus cupboard has moved to room LL305. Come by and visit to see our new improved location and maybe do some shopping at the same time.  Campus cupboard is offering FREE FOOD this spring semester.  Students can visit weekly during open hours to select their own products or pick up a prepacked box.   We currently do not require any student identification.  Personal hygiene (menstrual products) are available from Free Flow NM.  You may schedule an appointment using the Campus Cupboards Booking link on MYSFCC.  Check out the new QR code created for the Campus Cupboard which takes you quickly to the Campus Cupboard Bookings site.  From there you can shop online or set up an appointment to shop.  They have contactless pickup and even delivery.  Please see the attached flyer for these services.    Question call 505/428-1775 or email: cupboard@sfcc.edu

FREE MONEY    

1) Are you a currently enrolled in the Fall semester and are experiencing some financial challenges?  Have you experienced a recent emergency and need just a little help?  Apply today through the Student Emergency Fund.  Applications can be found on your MYSFCC page under Resources (Emergency Assistance Fund).  Applications are reviewed frequently, and funds are directly awarded to your account.  (The funds cannot cover the cost of tuition or books.)

2)  Did you know that you may be eligible for FREE GRANT MONEY?  Have you completed your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  If not, it’s easy, apply today at www.fafsa.gov.  Even if you are taking a few classes, you may still be eligible.  For more information, please contact our financial aid office at (505) 428-1268 or join one of the financial aid workshops listed above.   The 2023-2024 FAFSA applications are available now.

NEED CHILDCARE?  MAKE SURE YOU’RE ON THE KIDS CAMPUS WAITLIST 

When a spot comes available at the Kids Campus, students get priority placement. Kids Campus wants to support student parents and hopes that those needing childcare will get on the waitlist.
Children of degree-seeking SFCC students, SFCC employees, and full-time students at the Higher Education Center are prioritized for placement to support a two-generation philosophy of education at the college.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION  (2024-2025 ) Available Now

Pay for college with scholarships. One simple application puts you in consideration for state institutional and Foundation private scholarships.  Scholarships are available for new and returning, part time and full-time students to help pay for college for the upcoming academic year.  Scholarships are also available for second generation college students, Veterans, Native American students, Hispanic students and students with disabilities (must be registered with the SAS department at lanysha.adams@sfcc.edu).  SFCC offers performance-based scholarships through Contract for a Better Tomorrow (CBT).

STUDENT PARENT SURVEY

SFCC is building new programs and services for parenting students and working on additional initiatives to make our campus more family-friendly. If you are an SFCC student and are a parent or caregiver of one or more children under age 18, help us learn more about who our parenting students are at SFCC by filling out a short survey in banner. This will also enable us to add you to our student parent email list where we send out information about parent and family activities and other resources.

TRIO STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES

 WIN PROJECT

The WIN project employs four Navigators who are actively working to recruit individuals who are unemployed or underemployed or are looking to skill up. Benson is currently assigned to SFCC. WIN Navigators focus is to support low-income individuals, people of color, and people recovering from substance use disorders or those who have been incarcerated to place them into training programs, and connect them with services, resources, employers, and further training to support their success.  Please visit the website with this link https://www.nnm-win.com/community-support
