Beginner Gardeners

NMSU is presenting a FREE 6-week lecture series for BEGINNER gardeners! This course will teach you everything you need to know about getting started with your own vegetable garden! Space is limited, so register today! All classes are free. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Participants who attend 4 out of 6 classes will receive free gardening supplies!  Please see attached flyer for more information.

Check out SFCC’s Career Coach your one stop shop for job postings, resume writing, and career exploration.  You can quickly apply for any job posted in Career Coach.  You can also take a career assessment that identifies our primary areas of strength and provides suggestions for different career paths to explore. 

CAREER AND MAJOR EXPLORATION WORKSHOPS

Are you deciding which major and career path you should choose? SFCC’s Exploratory Academic Advisors and Career & Transfer Advisor will be hosting a Career and Major Exploration Workshop series on April 15th, 22nd, and 29th. All SFCC students are welcome to attend any and every workshop in this series to learn about how to make career and major decisions using self-reflection! CAREER AND TRANSFER WORKSHOPS – SPRING 2025

Join Career and Transfer Services once a month for a workshop on a career or transfer related topic.  We will meet on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30 in Room 412.  You can also join the workshops virtually via Microsoft Teams.  Please email career.services@sfcc.edu for the link to join.  Please see the attached flyer for the dates and topics for the Spring 2025 Workshops. CEA GREENHOUSE OPEN HOURS

10AM – 2PM APRIL 26—-CEA tours!  Food samples will be prepared by our amazing culinary students from 11 am to 1pm.  Our advanced Hydroponic and Aquaponics students are producing crops like Tomatoes, Cucumber and Lettuce in water-based production systems.  Worms compost all of the greenhouse waste, and the Energy is supplied by our campus solar array.  Plus, an epic book sale!

NEED CHILDCARE?  MAKE SURE YOU’RE ON THE KIDS CAMPUS WAITLIST 

When a spot comes available at the Kids Campus, students get priority placement. Kids Campus wants to support student parents and hopes that those needing childcare will get on the waitlist.
Children of degree-seeking SFCC students, SFCC employees, and full-time students at the Higher Education Center are prioritized for placement to support a two-generation philosophy of education at the college.

DENTAL PROGRAM APPLICATIONS BEING ACCEPTED NOW

SFCC’s Dental Department is accepting Certificate in Dental Assisting, Associate degree in Dental Health and Certificate in Expanded Function Dental Auxiliary (EFDA) applications for Fall 2025, from now until class is full. EAST WING EATERY SPRING 2025 HOURS OF OPERATION

THURSDAYS (only) 9:00 A.M. – 12:30 P.M.   We serve specialty coffee drinks, pastries, and soups.  We hope to add more savory breakfast and lunch items as time allows, and we receive prepared items from our culinary classes.  Please come and support the SFCC Culinary Arts Program and see what we are doing at the East Wing Eatery Cafe.  Thank you.

 FINANCIAL WELL-BEING AND LITERACY COURSE

Student affairs has launched a Financial Well-being and Literacy course to help our students ensure they are on a path to financial well-being and making good choices about their money and their future.   Nusenda and SFCC have a co-branded Financial Wellness website with lots of useful information and tools:  https://santafecc.teachbanzai.com/wellness.  You can access the course by clicking on the “Financial Literacy” button on the Welcome section of the MySFCC homepage.

FREE FOOD 

Campus cupboard is offering FREE FOOD.  Students can visit weekly during open hours to select their own products or pick up a prepacked box.  We currently do not require any student identification.  Personal hygiene (menstrual products) are available from Free Flow NM.  You may schedule an appointment using the Campus Cupboards Booking link on MySFCC.  Check out the QR code which takes you quickly to the Campus Cupboard Booking site.    They have contactless pickup and even delivery.  Questions? FREE MONEY    

1) Are you currently enrolled in this semester and are experiencing some financial challenges?  Have you experienced a recent emergency and need just a little help?  Apply today through the Student Emergency Fund.  The application can be found on your MySFCC page und Resources (Emergency Assistance Fund).  Applications are reviewed frequently, and funds are directly awarded to your account. (The funds cannot cover the cost of tuition or books.)

2)  Did you know that you may be eligible for FREE GRANT MONEY?  Have you completed your Free Application for Federal Student Ais (FASFSA).  If not, it’s easy, apply today at www.fafsa.gov .  Even if you are taking a few classes, you may still be eligible.  Form more information, please contact our financial aid office at (505) 428-1268.

GAMEDAY

Every Friday in the Campus Center from 11:30am – 2:30pm.  Enjoy board games and catch live sports on the big screen.  Free snacks, popcorn, and drinks!  Sponsored by your friends at Student Activities.

Free Teletherapy

  • UWILL is a national online Counseling Service that partners with SFCC. In addition to being available during the day, they have services available after hours, on weekends and during holidays. SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION AVAILABLE NOW

One simple application puts you in consideration for state institutional and Foundation private scholarships.  Scholarships are available for new and returning, part time and full-time students to help pay for college for the upcoming academic year.  Scholarships are also available for second generation college students, Veterans, Native American students, Hispanic students and students with disabilities (must be registered with the SAS department at lanysha.adams@sfcc.edu).  SFCC offers performance-based scholarships through Contract for a Better Tomorrow (CBT).

Calling all student parents! Santa Fe Community College’s Student Parent Success Program wants to hear from you! We’re hosting virtual focus groups to better understand the experiences, challenges, and needs of student parents with young children.  WIN PROJECT

The WIN project employs four Navigators who are actively working to recruit individuals who are unemployed or underemployed or are looking to skill up. Benson is currently assigned to SFCC. WIN Navigators focus is to support low-income individuals, people of color, and people recovering from substance use disorders or those who have been incarcerated to place them into training programs, and connect them with services, resources, employers, and further training to support their success.  Please visit the website with this link https://www.nnm-win.com/community-support
