SFCC Student Mike Kimball received the first place award in the fine arts exhibition printmaking category for his linoleum block print “Santa Fe Station.” The print depicts the New Mexico Rail Runner Express trains in front of the Santa Fe depot in the Railyard as passengers disembark. The 18″ x 18″ block print was carved and printed in instructor Jennifer Lynch’s Relief Printmaking course in 2017. In addition to the blue ribbon, a cash prize was also awarded.
“I’m really excited to have had my work chosen for this award,” says Kimball, “This is the first time I have entered my work in the State fair and all three of my entries were accepted. One was sold immediately at the opening reception and I’m happy to have the exposure to so many visitors during the exhibition.”
