Reduction in Force Announcement May 19, 2020

Dear Colleagues,

As we continue to make adjustments and sacrifices in our personal lives in response to COVID-19, so too must our institution respond to the financial challenges of our current and anticipated economic circumstances. I am saddened to announce that due to the unprecedented and unforeseen challenges presented by the coronavirus, the college has implemented a reduction in force in the following areas:

The William C. Witter Fitness Center will remain closed through the summer. The Kids Campus remains closed and will cease online efforts, while aiming to reopen later this summer. SFCC Food Service and
Bookstore remain closed indefinitely. And staffing in Facilities and Operations has been reduced in proportion to operating levels.

Staff in closed or reduced departments have been unable to return to work because their area of work is not operational at this time. All of these reductions in force are due to the impact of COVID-19 and some reductions may be temporary.

I value each one of SFCC’s hardworking, smart and talented employees and feel tremendous sadness that our college cannot be immune from the ripple effects of COVID-19’s economic impact.

I am grateful for your devotion to the students and community of Santa Fe and beyond. The safety of our students and employees is the college’s top priority. Thank you for your dedication and hard work during these challenging times.

Sincerely,
Becky K. Rowley, Ph.D.
SFCC President
