Fitness Instructor Training

School of Fitness Education

About the Program

Some people just have to move. Nothing makes them happier than getting up and working out. If you’re one of those people, a career in exercise and fitness could be right for you. This series of classes is designed to give you the fundamental knowledge needed to take the ACE (American Council on Exercise) and NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association) personal trainer certification programs.

Courses include hands-on learning as well as theoretical knowledge to prepare you to work with individual clients. All classes are sequential and can be completed in one semester. You can get more experience by participating in an internship either in the Resistance Training Center or the Wellness Center.

Many national fitness certifications will count our EXSC classes (if completed with a passing grade) as professional development, satisfying continuing education credits for re-certification. Please check with your certifying organization in advance to make sure they will accept any course(s) you successfully complete.
