Fine Woodworking
SFCC’s woodworking degree and certificate program will teach you the standards of fine craftsmanship, inspired design, and an entrepreneurial spirit for a woodworking venture. The woodworking classes emphasize furniture design, construction techniques and problem solving. You’ll learn machinery skills and traditional hand-tool expertise, joinery, wood characteristics, design and finishing as you develop and demonstrate your personal aesthetic in furniture design. You’ll also design and build a major piece of furniture using an entrepreneurial mindset.
Taught by accomplished woodworking professionals, the program’s classes are small to ensure individual attention,. You’ll work in well-equipped studios outfitted with modern machinery and hand tools, comparable to those used in a small woodworking business.
Woodworkers earn a median annual wage of $36,710, and their employment is projected to grow 8 percent by 2030, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
