SFCC’s Associate of Science degree in General Engineering and Engineering Technology is for those who plan to transfer to universities to earn bachelor’s degrees in engineering or engineering technologies. The Engineering Technologies AAS degree and professional certificates are designed to prepare students for technician positions in an array of fields, including drafting and design, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, micro and smart grid technologies, and manufacturing.
Mechanical engineering technicians earn an annual median salary of $60,460, and aerospace engineering technicians earn, on average, $67,032. The job market for mechanical engineering technicians is projected to grow 6 percent between now and 2030, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
