Student parents at SFCC
Santa Fe Community College will offer College Ready, a five-part series of classes to help parents prepare to go to college. Registration for the series is required by February 28 at https://bit.ly/SFCCCollegeReady. The classes run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays from March 11 to April 15. There is no class on March 25, when SFCC will be closed for Spring Break.
SFCC Student Parent Success Program Manager Rachel Kutcher said, “SFCC understands that many parents aspire to attend college but may feel uncertain about balancing school with raising children. The College Ready series is designed to guide parents through the admissions and financial aid process, while connecting them to resources that will help ensure their success as student parents at SFCC.”
The prospective parenting students will be offered a free meal during each class. Those who complete the full series of College Ready classes will be given a $125 gift card.
The series will offer attendees:
- An opportunity to explore careers and majors offered at SFCC.
- Assistance in preparing and submitting their college application.
- Help filling out a financial aid application.
- A chance to learn about options for childcare, as well as resources for SFCC parenting students.
