SFCC Library presents Start Again: A Reading by Miriam Sagan at 6 p.m. February 1, 2022

Sagan will read from her newest book of poetry via Zoom

What:    SFCC Library presents Start Again: A Reading by Miriam Sagan from her newest book of poetry. The poems in Miriam Sagan’s poetry collection, Start Again ($21.95 paperback, Red Mountain Press), come from the poet’s experiences and ruminations during the COVID-19 pandemic in Santa Fe.

As in her previous work, Sagan dips into elements of myth and mysticism, working in symbols of the tarot, astrology, nature, history, and Judaism, to create a poetic cosmology all her own.

Some poems explore the traditional New Mexico landscapes— sacred places turned iconic, the indigenous and migrated populations jarring up against the history and trauma of conquest and Anglo invasion. Heavy in the history, the poet likewise captures the present pandemic moments, the underlying sense of dread and unknowing the pandemic spurred.
