SFCC Hosts Free Workshop To help 50+ Jobseekers Train For and Land a Good Job

Apply for free job coaching, academic support and resources for workers aged 50+

What: BACK TO WORK 50+: Women’s Economic Stability Initiative Smart Strategies for 50+ Jobseekers Workshop. An informative event on job search strategies and tools and information on how jobseekers can apply to get access to scholarships, job coaching, academic training, career retooling and employers – all free. Once enrolled in the program, participants learn how to update their personal marketing tools and networking strategies, target their job search on in-demand jobs, get job leads, manage finances, update computer skills and more while they’re looking for their next job.

Who: Northern New Mexican unemployed or underemployed workers aged 50+ looking to get back on their feet or improve their place in the workforce. Participants do not have to be a member of AARP or a current student at SFCC.

When: Friday, October 7, 2016, 10 a.m.–12 p.m.

Where: Santa Fe Community College, Jemez Rooms, 6401 Richards Ave.

Of Note: The BACK TO WORK 50+: Women’s Economic Stability Initiative helps workers aged 50 and older find local jobs and build the financial capability to make sound decisions that reduce debt, rebuild savings and pave the way to greater financial stability. SFCC’s Center for Academic Transitions manages the initiative, which focuses specifically on the needs of low income, older people and provides an expanded level of career and support services.

Through the program, SFCC offers training and credentialing opportunities in multiple areas with good pay and job growth: Medical Assistant Certificate, Nurse Aide Certificate, Community Health Worker Certificate, EMT Intermediate Certificate, Fitness Instructor Certificate, Culinary Arts Certificate, Greenhouse Management Certificate, Computer Skills Classes, Accounting Specialist Certificate, Leadership Certificate, 45-Hr Early Childhood Education Class (eligible for state certificate), Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Certification in Elementary Education, Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Certification in Secondary Education and Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Certification in Early Childhood Education.
