Santa Fe Community College to Close for Employee Professional Development Conference on March 24
No college services, classes or AARP Foundation’s Tax Aide on March 24
Santa Fe Community College will not offer any services or classes on Friday, March 24, while faculty and staff participate in a campus-wide Professional Development Conference. The conference is one of the initiatives of the college to continue to provide ways to support SFCC students in achieving their educational goals. Please note that AARP Foundation’s Tax Aide services will not be available. SFCC’s Kids Campus, La Familia’s Southside Clinic and KSFR will be open.
AARP Foundation’s Tax Aide service will resume from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 25. Each year, SFCC hosts the tax aide program, which helps prepare income tax filing for hundreds of seniors and low-income residents free of charge. This year the service is available from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. through April 18 in the William C. Witter Fitness Education Center, Mondays through Fridays; and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturdays. The tax assistance will not be available during the Spring Holiday (April 14-16) weekend. Contact AARP Tax-Aide District Coordinator Peter Doniger at 505-670-6835, 505-428-1780, or taxhelpsantafe@gmail.com.
Please note that AARP reports that it has had a slow-down in services due to computer software changes. Because they are limited in the number of customers they can serve, they have requested that people arrive early in the day to get signed up. Also, due to IRS restrictions, tax aide is unable to handle returns for rental properties, farms or small businesses.
