SFCC Film Training

Santa Fe Community College (SFCC) announces the Continuing Education & Workforce Development in partnership with the Stagecoach Foundation Inc. and SFCC Film program is accepting applications for the Production Assistant Training for Film and Television, which is free to New Mexico residents. The training sessions will be on Saturdays and Sundays, January 4 through January 19. Students can earn their OSHA 10 safety certification and learn how to apply for paid internships managed by the Stagecoach Foundation.

Classes are hands-on and taught by film industry professionals.  For information and applications visit https://www.protecsantafe.com/. The class sizes are limited, so applicants are encouraged to submit their application as soon as possible.

The film industry continues to grow in New Mexico along with the demand for trained production assistants for film and television. SFCC Film Department Chair Milton C. Riess said, “If you are interested in a career in the film and television industry, this is the best place to begin.”

The training is structured to fit into a series of weekend classes. There is a weekend to complete the OSHA 10 safety certification training, a weekend of on-set safety and film basics for On-Set PAs taught by Milton Riess, and the final week Dr. Elizabeth Stahmer Executive Director of Stagecoach Foundation, Inc. teaches the Office PA portion of the course and helps students craft their skills-based résumé and provides information about career entry points for students interested in film work in the state.

All classes will be at the Santa Fe Community College campus, 6401 Richards Avenue. SFCC has been training New Mexico film crews for more than 20 years. Read more and apply at https://www.protecsantafe.com/.
