The registration period for SFCC HSE/GED preparation classes is open now through Jan. 17. Classes begin Jan. 22 in Spanish and English. For more information, call 505-428-1356 or go to https://www.sfcc.edu/offices/academic-career-education/.
Classes are offered in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings. Classes conducted in Spanish are offered in the evenings and on Saturdays. Classes prepare students for the state-approved HSE tests – the GED and HiSet.
New students are required to attend the four-day orientation January 14 – 17. The four-day orientation is offered in the mornings from 9 a.m. to noon or in the evenings from 5 to 8 p.m. In orientation, students will have the opportunity to meet with an advisor, create an individualized learning plan, and register for classes. A $25 fee covers classes and class materials.
The SFCC Adult Education Department also gives students the opportunity to work on a college certificate in healthcare while preparing for HSE/GED exams. The Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training Program (I-BEST) is offering certificates this spring in: Phlebotomy, Certified Nursing Assistant, Community Health Worker and Home Health Aide.
