President’s Update: SFCC Announces Covid-19 Vaccine Requirement

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff:

After thoroughly researching and evaluating the options, as well as taking into account national, state, and local mandates and guidance for preventing the spread of Covid-19, SFCC will begin requiring Covid-19 vaccines for all students, faculty, and staff who attend classes or work on campus. The College is committed to keeping you safe. With your participation, we can create a safe and healthy learning and working environment that supports ongoing success.

View the complete SFCC vaccine requirement. Here are the key details:

  • By January 18, 2022: All students who attend classes in person, or come to Main Campus, the Santa Fe Higher Education Center, or College-operated facilities, are required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19, have received at least one dose of an approved vaccine, or have obtained a vaccine exemption.
  • By November 30, 2021: All faculty and staff who work on campus or need to be at any College facility are required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19, have received at least one dose of an approved vaccine, or have obtained a vaccine exemption. All faculty and staff are required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 or have an approved exemption by Convocation on January 6, 2022.

Students, faculty, and staff can upload their proof of vaccination using the SFCC Health Screener App. Review the instructions at https://www.sfcc.edu/covid/sfcc-health-screener/ to learn how to upload proof of vaccination.

Exemption application forms and corresponding instructions can be downloaded on the vaccine requirement page.

Additional details and a set of Frequently Asked Questions are also available on the vaccine requirement page.

The college will maintain its current on-campus health requirements: All SFCC employees, students, and visitors are required to wear a mask while on campus and to continue practicing social distancing.

The health and safety our students, employees and community members must remain our college’s top priority. I am proud of the efforts you have undertaken thus far to keep one another safe. This vaccine requirement is the next step in returning our campus to operating at complete capacity once more. Our campus health protocols – which include masking up and practicing social distancing – continue to provide a solid line of defense against the spread of Covid on campus. We must continue support one another as we move forward together through this difficult time and beyond the pandemic. Thank you for your dedication and commitment to helping defeat this virus and move past this pandemic.

Sincerely,

Becky Rowley, Ph.D.

President
