6-14: SFCC Catering on Campus Policy – Procedure

  1. Events on Main Campus Catered by SFCC Food Services

  2. Events on Campus Not Catered by SFCC Food Services
    1. Please be aware that because all food served on the main campus is under the College’s Food Services license, including potlucks, Culinary Arts, etc., it is crucial that anyone serving food from sources other than Culinary Arts or Food Services contact Director of Food Services Behzad Dayeny at 505-428-1363 or dayeny@sfcc.edu.
    2. Food prepared by anyone other than Culinary Arts or Food Services puts the College at risk and could jeopardize the College’s license. Should someone be taken ill, and an investigation ensue, the New Mexico Environment Department could place the ability of Food Services to operate on hold for weeks, and perhaps months.
    3. SFCC Policy 6-14 requires events on campus to be catered by Food Services with very few exceptions, for example, potlucks. A potluck is defined as a communal meal to which people bring food to share; it is a closed event where no money is exchanged and where homemade and/or prepared foods are provided by group members to be consumed exclusively by group members. Food Services cannot be responsible for potlucks.
    4. All exceptions must submit a Food Services Waiver of Liability Form at least one week prior to the event.

    7. Contact the Director of Food Services at ext. 1363 or dayeny@sfcc.edu for a copy.
    8. Organizers of potluck and bake-sale events and those authorized to accept food donations for their events are encouraged to contact the Director of Food Services Behzad Dayeny at ext. 1363 to discuss menu items and to avoid those the New Mexico Department of Environment deems potentially hazardous.
    9. Organizers of potluck and bake-sale events are encouraged to acquire Food Handlers Certification. Culinary Arts Lead Instructor/Chef Jerry Dakan has offered to teach food handling courses upon request. Contact Chef Jerry at ext. 1414 or dakan@sfcc.edu.
