Congratulations to the 24 students who completed their Spring 2019 PILAS internships. During a ceremony May 8, students, employers, and faculty members shared highlights of their internship experiences and the ways the PILAS internships helped students along their career path.
Interns were honored with certificates of completion by President Cervantes and PILAS Internship Coordinator Ya’el Chaikind. PILAS is a workforce development project that gives students the opportunity to work with local businesses to gain employable skills while earning an hourly wage and academic credit. After a highly successful pilot year, the program continues this fall.
“We are incredibly grateful to the participating SFCC faculty members and businesses for their partnership with our student interns,” said Cecilia Cervantes, SFCC Interim President. “I am so proud of PILAS students, who aim to take these internship experiences, complete their certificates or degrees, and transition into employment.”
