Thomasinia Ortiz-Gallegos is the college’s Associate Vice President for Student Affairs.  She has served in higher education in a variety of capacities for 22 years.

The majority of Ortiz-Gallegos’ experience has been at New Mexico Highlands University. Most recently, she served as NMHU’s registrar.  For four years (2013-17), she was the director of NMHU’s program at the Santa Fe Higher Education Center.  From 2007 to 2013, she was the Director of Academic Support. Other positions she held at NMHU include Coordinator of New Student Orientation and Academic Advisement, Career Resources and Placement Coordinator/Advisor and Financial Aid Advisor/Processor. Additionally, she worked as Program Officer for Financial Aid and Program Outreach at the New Mexico Commission on Higher Education in Santa Fe.

Ortiz-Gallegos said, “I’m excited about this new leadership opportunity to foster student success. Students have always been my focus during my tenure in higher education. I feel honored to have served many from various socio-economic, ethnic and geographic backgrounds.”

Ortiz-Gallegos received a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Management in 1999 and a Master of Business Administration in 2007.  Both degrees were received with academic honors from New Mexico Highlands University.  She is currently completing her Ed.D. in Organizational Leadership with an emphasis in Higher Education.
