Stephen DeGiulio is a professor of Teacher Education & TESOL, and has taught in a dozen 2 and 4 year colleges and directed a nonprofit literacy organization that trains volunteers to tutor adults. He earned his Ph.D in Critical Pedagogy and Bilingualism from NMSU and TESOL MA from the University of the Americas in Puebla, México. Dr. DeGiulio has been faculty in the US, Mexico, and India, and taught TESOL to adults from all over the world, and taught school subjects to elementary and secondary learners. His pedagogy is informed by research into the musical traditions of North India; Caleb Gattegno’s Science of Education; and alternative schools based on the pedagogies of Rabindranath Tagore, Jiddu Krishnamurti, Paolo Freire and others who value the development of creative agency over limited learning objectives.
