With extensive experience in development and advancement work for public schools, in higher education, and with non-profits, Mr. Mathis comes to the Santa Fe Community College Foundation after twelve years as managing partner of Pharos Associates LLC, a Dallas-based consulting firm specializing in non-profit management. During that time he also served as CFO of Leadership Women Inc. (formerly known as Foundation for Women’s Resources), a nationally recognized organization specializing in programming for executive-level women in business, government, education, and the non-profit arena.
Mr. Mathis holds a Master’s Degree in Education from West Texas A&M University (Canyon) and has completed all coursework for a PhD in Adult Education and Human Resource Development Leadership at the University of Texas (Austin). He previously worked as a Curriculum Specialist and Trainer for Region XVI Education Service Center (Amarillo), a branch of the Texas Education Agency. He also held several central administrative positions in the Dallas Independent School District, where he successfully developed and managed numerous federal, state, corporate, and foundation grant programs for the district. Additionally he served as the first component-based Director of Development and Director of Advancement for the College of Education at the University of Texas at Arlington.
Having been born and reared in Amarillo, Mr. Mathis spent considerable time in Northern New Mexico while growing up. He permanently relocated to Santa Fe from the Dallas area in late 2018.
