Native American Week Celebration, April 29 through May 2

Monday, April 29: Opening Ceremony in the SFCC Courtyard at 10 a.m. with welcome and comments by Dr. Cecilia Cervantes, Marvin Gabaldon and representatives of the SFCC Native American Club. Native dances from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. including Pojoaque Pueblo Hoop Dancers among others.

Tuesday, April 30: Presentation by A.J. Goldman at 11 a.m. in the Campus Center. Noon: a video message from Congresswoman Deb Haaland addressing missing and murdered Indigenous Women followed by the Red Sand Project in the Courtyard. Community members are invited to participate and fill the cracks of the sidewalk with red sand to honor the missing and murdered Indigenous Women.

Wednesday and Thursday, May 1 & 2: Art Show and Sale in the Jemez Rooms from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those interested in purchasing a table for one or both days, please contact Marvin Gabaldon, 505-428-1835 or marvin.gabaldon@sfcc.edu. Table fee is $20 per day which benefits SFCC’s Native American Club.

Thursday, May 2: Dances in Campus Center beginning at 11 a.m.
including Pojoaque Pueblo Hoop Dancers among others.
