My name is Shawn Pacheco, and I am from the Santo Domingo Pueblo in NM. I am attending Santa Fe Community College to receive my AA in Criminal Justice. My first semester of college was difficult because I didn’t know how I was going to get through the hardships of completing my FAFSA to receive financial aid or registering for classes to complete my degree. When I found out about the TRiO Program I applied; and when I was accepted it was like a second home because every time I went to the TRiO office the staff would welcome me every single day with a smile and positive comment as I entered the room. This program has taught me so much and has helped me because if I didn’t know what to do the advisor would do everything in his power to help me figure out what I wanted to do and find out what I needed. If it wasn’t for the TRiO program I wonder how much of a lost puppy I would be. I recommend this program to all my friends and other students, and I hope they take the opportunity to join because it’s great. I want to thank everyone in the TRiO program for the amazing job they do to help each student. –Shawn Pacheco
