SFCC and World Central Kitchen

Feeding students, their families and local communities
SFCC Culinary Arts Program Lead and Chef Jerry Dakan, left, with Geronimo Executive Chef and part owner Sllin Cruz, right, and SFCC Culinary Arts alumnus Nathan Clements, front/far left, prepare packaged meals for the World Central Kitchen food distribution project.

To address food insecurity during the coronavirus crisis, SFCC has launched a food distribution initiative in partnership with World Central Kitchen, led by world famous chef and humanitarian, Chef José Andrés. SFCC Foundation is supporting the program, helping to feed students and our local communities faced with the health and economic impacts of COVID-19.

This is the first World Central Kitchen program located in the Southwest and the first to be operated on a community college campus. Learn more.

SGA Delivers

SFCC Student Government Association, in partnership with the Campus Cupboard, distributed their last food care packages for 70 students on Friday, May 1 at the Higher Education Center (HEC). Students were asked to stay in their vehicles as they drove by the HEC main entrance, showing their SFCC ID, to receive their care package from an SGA Officer. This was based on first come, first served.

These free food care packages contained: a Cornish hen, a package of mashed potatoes, a package of gravy, a can of corn and a can of green beans or peas and other various items.
