Pre-Apprenticeship Contracts
President Rowley spoke at a May 15 statewide press conference at NewSpace Nexus in Albuquerque announcing new workforce investments from the State Apprenticeship Expansion Formula Grant. SFCC was awarded two contracts totaling $215,250 to develop pre-apprenticeship programs in broadband infrastructure and residential energy auditing. SFCC is the only community college to receive funding this cycle, furthering its leadership in workforce training through the EnergySmart Academy.

Katie Besser Art & Writing Awards
The annual Katie Besser Art & Writing Awards celebrated SFCC’s emerging writers and artists on May 5 at Meow Wolf. The event honored student excellence in writing, photography, and media arts, with winners reading from their work. Stacey Foiles received the $1,000 Richard Bradford Memorial Creative Writing Scholarship, marking the fifteenth annual award. The awards are presented through a collaboration between SFCC’s English, Creative Writing, and Media Arts programs, the SFCC Foundation, and Meow Wolf.
