Celebrating 20 Years of the “Santa Fe Literary Review”
On Thursday, October 23, Santa Fe Community College will mark a special milestone: the 20th anniversary issue of the Santa Fe Literary Review (SFLR). The celebration begins at 5 p.m. with a reception in the Visual Arts Gallery of the Fine Arts Center, followed by readings at 5:30 p.m. All are welcome. Complimentary copies of the new issue will be available across SFCC and in Santa Fe Public Libraries.

The theme of this year’s issue is “Bloodlines: Lineage, Inheritance and Legacy.” The issue brings together original poetry, fiction, creative non‑fiction, and artwork from writers and artists around the world. Featured among the pieces is an interview with Deborah Jackson Taffa, Director of the Creative Writing program at the Institute of American Indian Arts and a citizen of the Quechan (Yuma) Nation and Laguna Pueblo. Her memoir Whiskey Tender was a 2024 Book Award finalist.
Cover art for this anniversary edition is “Mythology of the Asante Bonwire Kente Fabric” by Stephen Abban Junior—visually anchoring the issue in themes of heritage, craft, and identity.
The SFLR has always been a collaborative project—assembled by SFCC faculty, students, alumni, and community contributors. For two decades it has provided a stage for voices that explore cultural roots, personal histories, and imaginative futures. This 20th issue continues that tradition, inviting readers to reflect on what we inherit and what we pass on.
For those eager to read or share, physical copies are available in all branches of the Santa Fe Public Library and at the SFCC Library. The issue can also be viewed or downloaded online via SFCC’s website. Submissions for the next issue are open through November 1, 2025. Writers and artists may submit for free via the online Submittable platform. Learn more about the Santa Fe Literary Review.
