Two things. First, we need to review / update everyone’s job description and collect relevant years of experience for the individual in that position. This data was not stored in Banner or Workday.

SFCC’s pay is competitive with the 50th percentile (median) market sectors for both Faculty and Staff.

  • Staff: 97.8 % of 50th percentile
  • Faculty:  97.5 % of 50th percentile

Competitive market salary range is considered to be 90% to 110% of the 50th percentile (median) point.

Currently the New Mexico Legislative Session is in session (3/12/2025) and they are considering an average salary increase of 4% (four percent) for budgeted positions who have completed their probationary period subject to satisfactory job performance.

State law prohibits the College from engaging in salary negotiations with the faculty members without going through the Faculty Union (SFCC AFT / AAUP). SFCC AFT / AAUP is the authorized sole representative of the full-time faculty members covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

CostofLabor is the total amount it takes to hire a person for a specific job. The cost includes wages and salaries, employee benefits (e.g. paid time off, health insurance, retirement, etc.) In areas with higher Cost-of-Living, generally the Cost-of-Labor will be higher than areas where there is lower Cost-of-Living.

Cost-of-labor (which the cost-of-living impacts) was utilized to compare equivalent salaries in the Southwest region. Areas with higher or lower Cost-of-labor were adjusted to Santa Fe area prior to the comparison.

If you are a member of staff at the College, that depends on budget availability and where your salary is located on the new proposed pay scale. Not all employees will be affected by the new salary structure.

The College is considering a phased salary adjustment for staff, starting with 80% below the market, and 80% to 89.9% of the market. Moving to 90% to 100% of the market next as funding becomes available.

Our current plan is to address the staff whose salary falls below the entry level of a particular grade in FY25 and then review other areas in FY26 and FY27 (with available budget).

Pay increases for Full-Time Faculty who are members of the Collective Bargaining Unit must be negotiated between SFCC AFT / AAUP and the College per the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
