Look for Classes
The registration period for the second fall session of SFCC’s HSE/GED preparation classes opens in September and goes through September 26. Classes begin September 30 in Spanish and English. For more information, call 505-428-1356 or go to https://www.sfcc.edu/new-student-registration-hse-ged/.
Classes are offered in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings. Classes conducted in Spanish are offered in the evenings and on Saturdays. Classes prepare students for the state-approved HSE tests – the GED and HiSet.
New students are required to attend the four-day orientation on September 23-26. The four-day orientation is offered in the mornings from 9 a.m. to noon or in the evenings from 5 to 8 p.m. In orientation. All sessions are held in room 502, next to the SFCC Library. Students will have the opportunity to meet with an advisor, create an individualized learning plan, take placement tests and register for classes. A $25 fee covers classes and class materials and is due on the last day of orientation.
The SFCC Adult Education Department also gives students the opportunity to work on a college certificate in healthcare while preparing for HSE/GED exams. The Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training Program (I-BEST) is offering certificates this spring in: Phlebotomy, Certified Nursing Assistant, Community Health Worker and Home Health Aide.
