Look for Classes
I’d like to invite everyone to join me for the final “Conversation with the President” discussion of the fall semester, Thursday, Dec. 1 at 3 p.m. in the Lecture Hall, Room 216.
Among other topics, I want to be sure everyone knows the Fair Labor Stands Act (FLSA) changes that were due to go into effect have been put on the back burner as a result of a preliminary injunction granted by a Federal judge on Tuesday, Nov. 22. This means all employees will retain their current exempt status and will continue reporting absences via web time entry. As exempt employees, you are not eligible for overtime or compensatory time. The forms that were collected by Human Resources will be retained in the HR office for the time being. I’d like to thank everyone for their patience as we have worked through the FLSA issue. We will continue to keep you informed as the case moves through the courts.
I will also update everyone on the Board meeting, the budget cuts and the idea of a “Sanctuary Campus” resolution.
As the semester draws to a close, I’ll also use the “Conversation” as an opportunity for all of us to review some of the high points and accomplishments we’ve achieved. I invite you to bring your successes and share them with the group so we can collectively applaud the great work we’ve completed this fall.
