Coronavirus Update – Campus Closed through April 5 – President, March 13

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff:

We are following Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s recommendation to reduce the spread of Coronavirus. Therefore, SFCC, Kids Campus, and the Higher Education Center will be closed for spring break beginning 9 p.m. today, March 13, through Sunday, March 22. In addition, both campuses will be closed Monday, March 23, through Sunday, April 5, to further prevent the virus from impacting our community members. All events are cancelled and there is no access to main campus or the HEC.

I encourage everyone to continue to follow the New Mexico Department of Health Coronavirus Recommendations.

Students: We are here for you! Although access to campus is not available, we are. After spring break, many college services will be available remotely. All SFCC online classes continue as normal. Please check your email and sfcc.edu/covid regularly for updates.

Student Employees/Employees: Please note that all employees will be paid (with the exception of on-call employees). You do not have to take sick time or annual leave during this period.

Employees: Although we will not be on campus March 23-April 5, if you are able, you should be working as usual. Check your email and respond to emails regularly. Do not use out-of-office on your email. Be sure to set your out-of-office on voicemail. You can use this template:
The college will be closed for spring break from Saturday, March 14, through Sunday, March 22. To limit the spread of the Coronavirus, the campus will remain closed through April 5, but I am available to assist you. Please contact me at email/phone.

More information is forthcoming.

This is an unprecedented time for all of us. Thank you for continuing to observe the guidelines for staying healthy and for working together for the health of our entire community.

Sincerely,

Becky Rowley, Ph.D.
SFCC President
