Alternative Fuels – ALTF 161 – Introduction to Algae Cultivation
(3 credits) is an 8-week, online class that covers the fundamentals of sustainable algae farming, microalgae and seaweeds, basics of algae biofuels, algae as wastewater treatment, and algal food products. Students will learn an overview of algal biology and key methods for algal biomass production. The course also provides an introduction to the analytical techniques used in monitoring and maintaining algal cultures. This class is designed for individuals with little or no technical training to provide them with the basic skills and knowledge required to begin working in the field of algal production.
