Training Center Corporation

SFCC created the Training Center Corporation in the spring of 2005 under the New Mexico University Research Park Act. As a tax-exempt 501 (c) (3) organization, the TCC can:

  • Accept “loan funds” from the founding public college
  • Acquire, hold and dispose of intellectual property and technological innovations
  • Issue revenue bonds
  • Buy and sell assets
  • Borrow money
  • Receive and administer grants
  • Invest funds on deposit
  • Bypass the state procurement process
  • Have employees
  • Receive bequests and gifts

More specifically, the Corporation allows the College to:

  • Form partnerships with businesses and create cooperative technological ventures to foster local economic development and jobs
  • Be competitive with other entities currently transmitting educational services into New Mexico
  • Cooperatively market educational programs with businesses and other organizations
  • Sign intellectual property rights (copyright) agreements with individuals or businesses

Projects implemented by the TCC include:

  • Film Center
  • Biomass Production and Distribution System
  • Entrepreneurship Training Program
