Veterans Resource Center — Academic Support

Feedback

Academic Advising

At SFCC there are three groups of professionals who regularly provide academic advising: Welcome and Advising Center advisors, counselors and faculty members. In general, individuals in any of these groups can help you but each may also provide specialized assistance.

Counseling

Counseling Services offers a safe, private and confidential place to discuss re-integration to civilian life, academic concerns, family, and employment demands, depression, anxiety, PTSD and other mental health matters. We also offer referrals to community services and resources.

Library

Veterans, we understand how challenging it can be to return to college. The Library is full of resources to help you, from books to electronic databases, but most of all, our professional librarians are here with a friendly smile and a lot of experience to help with your research and course needs.

Student Accessibility Services

PTSD, MST, TBI, etc. are conditions that qualify you for classroom accommodations. Your VA disability rating does not have a bearing on reasonable accommodation through ADA. For more information, visit the Student Accessibility Services web pages.

Student Development

Veterans get connected through our many programs and services including career services, leadership, student government, and much more! Stop by our Student Lounge to learn more.

Testing

Transitioning from military to college life will require placement testing and course exams. The Testing Center offers a quiet comfortable environment for testing to serve the needs of the campus community.

Tutoring

You’ve served us well, now let our 32 tutors assist you with Math, English, Science, Media Arts, and most of your core classes. Please utilize the Tutoring Center for help with all your learning challenges.
