About the Program
If the precision and detail of engineering plans appeals to you, then the SFCC’s Drafting and Engineering Program might be a good fit. Whether you intend on becoming an aerospace engineer or a bioengineer, the program will launch you on your way. At SFCC you can learn about pollution control, seek out and incorporate the latest advanced technologies and explore new applications for improving the built environment.
This program combines computer-based modeling with conventional methods in engineering graphics communication to solve drafting and basic design-related problems. Introductory engineering courses, graphics, design, programming and equip you with the core requirements to transfer to a university to earn a bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technologies. Coursework includes Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Global Positioning Systems (GPS) competencies. Engineers start at significantly higher salaries than other college graduates, and the demand for engineers is high and consistent.
