KAPLAN Exam Registration Policies & Procedures for Nursing Program
Test dates starting in December 2015
The Testing Center @ Santa Fe Community College
Students taking the KAPLAN exam for entrance into the SFCC Nursing Program are allowed to test twice in an application period. However, candidates are tested in cohort groups, so each testing date has an automatic retest date at least 21 days following the original test date. Please be sure that, when you select your preferred test date that you will be available for the retest date as well, should it become necessary. We cannot test any candidate outside of his or her cohort, so you may only retake the exam on the specified date for your cohort.
|If you test on this date:||You will retest on this date:||Deadline to Register:|
|Cohort - 1||December 14||January 4||December 8|
|Cohort - 2||December 15||January 5||December 9|

There is NO fee for taking the Kaplan exam if you are a registered SFCC student. Students not registered at SFCC must pay a $25 proctor fee at the cashier’s office before taking the exam.
You must register for the KAPLAN exam in person at the Testing Center. You may only register yourself. Seats for available exams will be filled on a first-come first-served basis.
Pursuant to SFCC Nursing Program policy, you may take the KAPLAN exam a maximum of two times during a given application period, on the specified date, within your cohort.
At the time of registration, you must present a current photo ID. You will also need to provide your SFCC “A Number” (student ID number) and a telephone number where you can be reached.
You can prepare for your KAPLAN exam by using the KAPLAN ‘Study Guide.’ ISBN: 1609786726. We also have sample packets available at the Testing Center.
CANCELLATIONS AND DATE CHANGES
If you wish to change or cancel a KAPLAN registration, contact the Testing Center in person or by phone at (505) 428-1625 as early as possible so that your seat for the exam can be made available to another examinee.
LATE ARRIVALS AND NO-SHOWS
You are expected to arrive at the Testing Center during the testing window times, beginning at 11:00 a.m. and ending at 2:00p.m. on testing days. Both your first attempt date and retest option date will be open from 11:00a.m. to 2:00p.m. If your arrival time will not allow you to complete the exam by Testing Center closing time, you will not be allowed to test. If you do not show up for your first attempt, you will be allowed to test only on your scheduled retest date. You will not be given a retest opportunity.
SAME-DAY WALK-IN TESTING
If you are not registered for a particular test date you may still be able to test on that date on a walk-in basis.
You must bring your photo I.D. and your student A# to be added to the registration list. Your name will then be registered with KAPLAN, a username and password will be issued, and you will be allowed to test.
Walk-in candidates will be accommodated as space permits, during the test window of 11:00 p.m. to 2:00 pm.
ACCOMMODATIONS FOR EXAMINEES WITH DOCUMENTED DISABILITIES
Testing accommodations are provided for examinees with documented disabilities in accordance with the ADA. To receive accommodations, you must meet with the SFCC Office of Disability Services (505-428-1711) for a standard intake interview and to have your documentation reviewed. The Testing Center will not provide non-standard testing arrangements without a referral from the Disability Services office.
