Debra Madrid-Doyle
Department Chair
Debra Madrid-Doyle has a B.S. in Mathematics from Eastern New Mexico University, and a M. S. from California State University. She has taught for SFCC for 25 years. She has also taught for the University of New Mexico, and worked as a systems analyst for Hughes Aircraft. Debra enjoys the outdoors (warmer outdoors) and her hobbies include: golfing, snorkeling, and swimming. Debra and her husband Mike enjoy watching movies, as her son JJ is a producer in the film industry.

Daniel Kilpatric
Assistant Professor of Developmental Mathematics
Daniel has a B.A. in English with a focus on creative writing from Lewis and Clark College and an M.F.A. in poetry writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts. He has been tutoring and teaching English and Math at SFCC since January of 2000. He teaches General Math, Pre-Algebra, Basic Algebra as well as occasional English courses.
Daniel also oversees the Student Writing Awards, which is a campus-wide writing contest that includes a public reading by the recipients and the publication of a booklet featuring the winners, runners-up, and honorable mentions.

Robert Shankin
Robert Shankin holds a B.S. in secondary education from Central Michigan University, and an M.S. in applied mathematics from Michigan State University. He taught mathematics and computer science at the University of Houston Downtown for ten years and has been teaching mathematics at SFCC since 2000. Robert's love of the outdoors lead him to New Mexico when his wife was pregnant with their first child, and he now has two boys.
Robert's interest is in the communication of mathematics. He has had extensive training in alternative styles of mathematics education, and enjoys conducting each class as an ongoing experiment in teaching effectiveness.
