Ute Jannsen-Kerr
Chair, Exercise Science Fitness Education Department
Ute teaches classes in exercise science as well as yoga, hiking and conditioning courses. She is chair of the exercise science degree program and is involved in programming many activity classes in the Fitness Education department.
Jim Archibald
Outdoor and Fitness Education, Human Development
Jim Archibald holds a B.A in outdoor education leadership from Prescott College in Prescott, Arizona and an Associate of Applied Science in exercise science from Santa Fe Community College. He has been teaching outdoor education classes, general fitness classes, and human development classes at SFCC since 1993. Jim also holds several certifications relating to the outdoor leadership field and fitness education.
Jim is currently a doctoral student at Fielding Graduate University in educational leadership and change with a focus on ecologically connected curriculum.
Gerald Clay
Beginning Fitness
Gerald received his bachelor's degree in 1977 and master's degree in 1979 in physical education from New Mexico State University. For the next 7 years he taught physical education classes and managed the Natatorium for New Mexico State. He was also the manager for Samson Gym. In 1986 he moved to Phoenix Arizona where he became the fitness and aquatics director for Arrowhead Country Club as well as a part time instructor in physical education for Glendale Community College.
Gerald became a full time instructor at Santa Fe Community College in January 1993. In 2000 he received the SFCC Faculty Excellence Award and is currently the coordinator of the Beginning Fitness program.
Tomas Duran
Aquatic Department
Tomas Duran received his B.A. in psychology from the College of Santa Fe. He has been working at SFCC since 1999 in the capacity of lead instructor and faculty for the Aquatic department. Tomas helps to oversee the scheduling of all programs and part-time instructors in the Aquatic department.
Enita Pendleton
Fitness Education Department
Enita Pendleton received her Bachelor of creative arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Enita is certified by the ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine), NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association, NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) and ACE (American Council on Exercise) as a health/fitness instructor and personal fitness trainer.
Enita has been working as a full time faculty member at SFCC since 2006 and is also one of the Fitness Area Coordinators. Enita teaches classes within the exercise science FIT program. She also teaches cycling, women's strength training and various conditioning and aerobic courses.
Gretchen Scott
Nutrition
Gretchen has been an instructor and faculty member at SFCC since 1997. She has several advanced degrees including a B.S. in dietetics and food administration from California Polytechnic State University; a master's degree in food and human nutrition, University of Arizona; a Dietetic Internship at University Medical Center, Tucson, Arizona, and she is a registered dietitian and licensed dietitian. Gretchen teaches and coordinates nutrition classes and programs.
