Sculpture Program - School of Arts and Design
About the Program
Associate in Arts (AA) in Fine Arts with a concentration in sculpture
With a faculty of professional artists and the best facilities in the state, the sculpture program offers students the opportunity to explore and realize their artistic identity in three dimensions. Studios include equipment for working in steel, iron, bronze, wood, glass, clay, stone, and mixed media.
Classes in Basic Fabrication and Safety, Forging, Bronze Casting, and Santeros Carving (New Mexico’s 400-year-old tradition of creating figures of saints) allow students to develop their individual artistic vision within the rich environment of the community of artists that is the sculpture department.
The Associate in Arts in Fine Arts with a concentration in sculpture prepares a student to enter a B.F.A. program at a four-year institution or to emerge as a working artist in the creative economy.
